North Georgia Bass Anglers Club Rules

 Established 2006 

1.     Each member needs to be an FLW member associated with the TBF. 

2.  If a member cannot attend the meeting and wishes to fish, he must contact the Tournament Director or board member prior to the drawings of partners or no later than 24 hours after the meeting.

3. Any member, who has agreed to fish a tournament and cannot, must inform his partner within 48 hours of the tournament. If notified in less than 48 hours then non boater fees are still due to boater. Any other extenuating circumstances will be decided by the board of directors.

4.  Meeting days will be the last Monday of each month.  Tournament sites will be selected each month for the upcoming month. TWO LAKES WILL BE CHOSEN! If there is a safety problem with the first lake then the tournament director and/or club officials will make the call to switch lakes to the provisional one.

5.Tournament pairings shall be decided by a rotation of boaters and non-boaters.  In the event that there are more boaters than non-boaters we highly recommend the extra boater to fish with another boater. 

6. The same two members cannot fish together in consecutive tournaments. 

7. Dues must be paid at the meeting.  Dues are paid even if a member cannot fish.  All back dues must be paid at the next meeting. Dues will be paid quarterly starting the 2009 season. No refunds on prepaid dues with exception of a member who has fallen on hard times. 

8.  Non-boater fees are as follows: $35.00 per day, per lake fished.  Be fair to your boaters. 

9.  Each tournament shall be no more than 10 hours long. 

10.The club hereby agrees to abide by all the TBF and National Federation FLW rules and By-laws. 

11.  Dues are as follows: 

A)   Membership dues each month are $25.00.

B)   Prospective member dues each month are $25.00.

C) Guest dues are $20.00 per tournament. 

C) Beginning 2009 season we will pay dues on a quarterly basis. The quarterly amounts will be set and posted before the season starts.

Removal of Membership 

1.Infractions or flagrant disregard of fundamental sporting principles as sportsmanship, safety, courtesy and conservation.

2.    Any action, which would reflect, dishonor and disgrace on this chapter. 

3.To vote a member out of the club, a complaint must be lodged by a member or members to the Board of Directors at a regular club meeting.  The member being voted on must be present.  After hearing both sides of the complaint, the membership present will vote by a written ballot with majority rule.  The Board of Directors can make a decision without the club in extreme situations.  

Rules Applying to All Prospective members 

1.     All prospective members must attend the meeting before fishing a tournament.

2. All prospective members do not earn points until voted in to the club.

3. All prospective members can place in tournaments AND earn prize money BEFORE being voted in.

4.     All prospective members have the option to fish with the member who sponsored you for your first tournament. 

5.     All prospective members will be given points AFTER they are voted in. 

6.  All prospective members will be voted in once the club have come to a decision of the prospective member.      There is no set time frame for becoming a member. 

7.     All prospective members must pay club dues. ( No Refunds.) 

8.     All prospective members must be at the meeting to be voted in.

 

Rules Applying to All Guests

1. Guests do not earn club points.

2. Guests do not earn prize money or place in tournaments.

3. Guests can enter tournament big fish pot.

4. Guests must follow all club rules.

5. Guests must make a 20.00 donation, per tournament fished, to the club.

The term of office is one year, which begins October 1 and terminates September 30.  Each active member, in good standing with the club, is entitled to one vote.  Proxy vote is not permitted. 

In the event an office becomes vacant, nominations shall be taken at a regular meeting with the majority vote of members present required to fill the unexpired term of the individual vacating office.

  

Tournament Rules 

1.     The Tournament Director will control start and finish of tournament and will enforce tournament rules. 

2.  All competitors must obey state fishing laws, safety laws, and use of artificial bait only. No fly fishing tackle. No more than 5 fish, per competitor, in each boat at any given time. When the 6th fish is caught, one fish must be culled immediately.

3.     All boats must be launched and/or ready to launch 15 minutes before tournament starts. 

4. Non-boaters will furnish their own life jacket.  Life jacket must be worn when the boats big motor is running.  All boats must be of bass style, have working  kill switches, and aerated live wells. Boat inspections will be done periodically by the TD. If violations are found then the appropriate action will be taken. 

5.  Any competitor’s caught attempting to weigh in a short fish will be given a warning and the fish will not be counted. The second time will result in a 20 point reduction for the tourney year. The 3rd offense will be left up to the discretion of the board of directors.

6.   Any member who is not in by the official quitting time will be penalized at the rate of 10 ounces per minute for that day’s catch, and disqualified after 15 minutes, except for boats-in-tow with a mechanical failure. 

7.     If a boat did not return to the weigh in a search party will be formed to find the missing persons. 

8. If any member needs to leave early from the tournament he must notify one of the Board of Directors to let them know of the reason at hand. If you cannot locate anybody please leave a note on one of the vehicles at the ramp. 

9.The non-boater is required to have at least 1 hour of fishing on the front of the boat. We would like for the non boater to have a half day on the front but we understand that their could be certain situations with the non boater.

10.Competitors in bass tournaments are expected to follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, safety, and conservation.  Maximum courtesy must be practiced at all times, especially with regard to boating and angling in the vicinity of other club members there will be a 100 yard courtesy boundary for all boats that are fishing. 

11. Any member wishing to protest must tell the tournament director at the weigh-in.  Protest will be resolved by the board of directors immediately after the weigh-in and before the tournament results are announced.

12.   In the absence of the tournament director, another board member will assume tournament director duties. 

13.  In the event of a tie on total weight, most fish determine the winner. If still tied,largest fish will determine the winner.

14. A bag limit of 5 fish consisting of any combination of largemouth, smallmouth, spots, shoal bass and red eye may be weighed in.  Minimum lengths shall be as prescribed in the State Fish & Game Regulations for the state and lake fished. Weigh-in will not start until all boats are, beached at the ramp, tied to the dock, or on the trailers. All fish will be measured with the mouth closed. 

15. Competitors in tournaments are allowed to weigh-in one dead fish per tournament day with no penalty. The second through fifth dead fish will have an 8 once penalty for each dead fish, off of the total weight for the day.  

16.  Current big fish is to be held in water till end of weigh-in. In event of tie or close weight then balance beam will determine winner.  If there is still a tie for big fish then total weight will determine winner. 

17.    No alcoholic beverages are to be consumed during tournament hours. 

18. Non-swimmers must inform their partners and wear life vests at all times. 

19.    No Show or Late person will be called 15 minutes before blast off and given 10 minutes to respond, before being taken out of the tournament. Tournament Director will be called and it is his decision on the matter. 

 

    Awards 

1.     Ten (10) bonus points will be awarded for each meeting attended. 

2.     Ten (10) bonus points will be awarded for each tournament fished 

3.     One (1) point will be awarded for each ounce of bass. 

4.     Five (5) bonus points to be awarded for each live bass released. (If you take fish home you do not get points.) 

5.     A total of Ten (10) points will be awarded for a limit of 5 fish at weight in. 

7.     The money you win at the tournament will be given out at the next meeting.

 

Tournament Payout 

We will pay the Top Three winners in the Club Tournament. 

1st Place    $50.00

 

2nd Place    $30.00

 

3rd Place    $20.00

 

This will change to payout six places when we have more members join our club. 

 

These By-Laws were set up by the twelve members in North Georgia Bass Anglers on January 2. 2007. 

These By-Laws were amended by the Board of Directors on February 20, 2008.
